Listen: Do Not Set Aside Financial Matters

In the course of my Financial Advising Journey, I am amazed how the majority of the Filipinos do not discuss openly the Matters on Money. They present different sets of behavior such as avoiding the topic, changing the discussion, or sometimes, suddenly changes the tone to the extent of disconnecting with you. FRIENDSHIP over. Sad.

Why do we have this kind of patterns? Well, we could probably root this behavior to our concept of Traditional Religiosity as with the common concept of "Money is the Root of All Evil". Well, I argue that Greed is the root, not Money. Money is just a material invention of society used to acquire limited resources that we need to live comfortably. But with the Filipinos, most of us relied on too much Fatalism, or belief that the heaven will provide. I do not argue to stop believing, I argue to start ACTING.

I say, DO NOT set aside Financial Matters, because this is a crucial component of our well being. Financial aspect of our life is the vehicle for us to obtain the resources in this Era of Capitalism. Sorry for the Jargon, but what I mean on this is: We need Money to Make our Life Comfortable. So, we really have to discuss this matter, SERIOUSLY.

As like in health, socials, faith and other aspect of our life, financial aspects of our life also needs improvement. But to attain such improvement, we need to enhance our competencies about financial matters. For example, do you know what does 'Inflation' mean? Do you know that it is the culprit why your hard earn money placed in bank for years lost its value? You will argue that the money is there, intact! Yes, I certainly agree. The absolute value of your money is intact; but, its relative value after 10 years had gone dry.

By now, you realize that you need to learn more about Financial Matters. Yes! And learning it does not make you more Greedy, yearning money against others Does!

So, since this is my very first blog post, I leave three pieces of advice:

1. Learn more! The internet is here to serve your quench for more knowledge. And stay connected in this Blog as I will share more!
